Bold City Brewery – Abby’s Ale

Bold City Brewery – Abby’s Ale

Here’s a fun one I just finished up at The Robin Shepherd Group, for Bold City Brewery. This time Bold City features a patron’s beloved dog Abby, for their Belgian Abbey Ale. And, no that’s not a typo, there’s actually a type of beer called “Abbey Ale”… I know, I know, it was news to me, too! The names alone make the brew & happy go-lucky weimaraner a fitting match up, but like many of the tastey beverages that come from the brewery, there’s more story to tell. So next time you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by Bold City & throw back a pint of Abby’s finest & don’t forget to ask the brewmaster, “what’s up with the scissors?”…hope you enjoy

1901 Red Ale

1901 Red Ale

Bold City Brewery’s Red Ale has been a favorite among BCB patrons since the brewery opened in late 2008. My good friend & super talented copywriter, Jacquie Wojcik came up with the name 1901 Red Ale to commemorate jacksonville’s perseverance through the 1901 fires, and nod at the brew’s roasted flavor. The 1901 Red Ale label & tap designs complete the newest series of 3 for the young brewery. Be on the look out for more to come 2010…hope you enjoy.

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Like many creatives, I’m always on the lookout for those rare and near perfect set of circumstances that present a client, who is not only looking for a little more than the norm, but is also trusting enough to let you find it…I call them “unicorn projects”. Back in July I was asked about designing some album art for the supertalented, North Carolina-based comedy duo, Rhett & Link. Hmmmm… music, comedy, cool folks & package design… yep, it def. smelt like a unicorn to me. I’m happy to report that the project, and the experience did not dissapoint. Working with talented, and down-to-earth folks like these made this project about as satisfying as they come. A huge, heartfelt thank you to both Rhett and Link for the work, and all the trust that went into producing it.

Bold City Brewery – Starry Lights Tap

Bold City Brewery – Starry Lights Tap

Starry Nights has been a popular outdoor event in Jacksonville for more than a decade, combining the sounds of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra with a variety of entertainers, downtown at Metropolitan Park. Bold City Brewery was lucky enough to provide some of the adult beverages for the event this year… in the spirit of the evenets name they came up with a delicious light brew, Starry Lights. Above is the tap handle I helped create, at The Robin Shepherd Group that distributed this fine rhy wheat creation to this years patrons… hope you enjoy

Bold City Brewery – Killer Whale Bottle

Bold City Brewery – Killer Whale Bottle

Bold City Brewery is gearing up to destribute a few of their favorite keg beers in bottle form. The Killer Whale Cream Ale was one of the first to make the list… above is the translation from tap handle to bottle label… hope you enjoy

Bold City Brewery – Fritz Hefeweizen

Bold City Brewery – Fritz Hefeweizen

Fritz Hefeweizen is the newest brew creation from the folks over at Bold City Brewery. The name & portrait are inspired by someone very near & dear to the brewmaster’s heart, his grandfather, Fritz. I had a chance to sample this brew a couple months back, & have to say, it’s one of the finest they’ve produced to date… I think Fritz would be proud. If you get the chance, I def. reccomend swinging by Bold City or your favortie water hole to give this one a try… & while you’re there, check out the snapy new look of the taps… hope you enjoy

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Back in July I received an email about doing some album art for the super talented North Carolina-based comedy duo, Rhett & Link. We’ll be putting the finishing touches on everything and sending off the files to print by the end of this week. But for now, here’s a peek at the post to come. Stay tuned…

Bold City Brewery – Bold English

Bold City Brewery – Bold English

Though this delicious beer has been on tap for close to a year now, Bold City Brewery’s Bold English was without a proper tap handle… until now. This will mark the first in a series of 3 taps that will carry a new look to some of Bold City’s ol’favorites, as well as 1 new brew. Lots of great stuff happening over at this young brewery, and there is much to look forward to in 2010… hope you enjoy!

Yellow Jacket Bar-B-Q Sauce – Packaging

Yellow Jacket Bar-B-Q Sauce – Packaging

Here’s a peek at a packaging project that is currently in the works for Saltwater Marsh Bar-B-Q. A small group of Florida students have been contemplating their own line of Bar-B-Q sauces & needed a little help with the branding portion of thier project. Their open minds, motivation & enthusiasm have made the labeling work a lot of fun… I don’t think I’ve ever met a group students that have been more oganized & on top things… it’s great! We still have a few tweaks here & there to make, but I’m so stoked about how the design is shaping up that I couldn’t wait to post the progress. Hope you enjoy!

Mandorico – Album Art

Mandorico – Album Art

This might not be the case for everyone, but for me at least, album art packaging often comes by way of a friend… of a friend… whos brother knows this guy that plays bass in a band, recording an album, that should be done sometime later this year… or at least something like that. A while back I had the opportunity to do some album art for the band Mandorico… & yes, the work came through a good friend of mine, Mike, who was playing bass for Mandorico at the time. The band’s style is a mix of punk, reggae, rock, latin and funk or as some descibe, it’s like “Sublime meets Ozomatli at the Bosstone’s house”. Trying to fit all of their influences in a album cover was challenging, for sure… but lucky for me the Mandorico folks I worked with were super nice guys & open to suggestions. It was def. a great opportunity to work with good folks & to produce some fun album art…Hope you enjoy!
