VOID Magazine – T-shirt

Surf, skate, music, fishing & eateries… VOID magazine covers it all, in North Florida. I recently ran in to Tye & Aaron (founders of V.M.) in the line-up… though none of us had worked together before, the conversation had come up several times, and seemed like something we were all interested in. So between sets of thigh-high summer mush, we started kicking around the possibility of doing some shirt designs for VOID. I was so stoked on the idea, I couldn’t wait to start sketching. It wasn’t long before before I had a rough line drawing for what you see above. I’m a huge fan of anything detailed/intricate, and given V.M.’s wide rage of coverage in NorFl, an “everything shirt” seemed like a natural fit…

If you haven’t already, check out the new issue of VOID in stores now, & don’t forget to show some V.M. love by picking up one of these crispy fresh tees’, available on their site.

Native Sun – Tummy Friends Tee

Native Sun – Tummy Friends Tee

Here’s a fun tee-shirt project I worked on a while back at The Robin Shepherd Group for Native Sun Natural Foods Market. The goal was to create a few shirt designs for their staff that would reflect the friendly atmosphere of Native Sun as well as convey the benifits of choosing natural foods. Though the shirt was never produced, it was still a heap-ton of fun to work on… hope you enjoy!

Rhett & Link – Mythical Carpet

Rhett & Link – Magic Rugs

Here’s a fun one I worked on recently with the super talented internetainers Rhett & Link. Not long ago, the duo relocated to a new studio in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, and were looking to do a bit of decorating to make their new digs feel like home. If you’re even vaguely familiar with the comedy duo, you know that a couple of couches and a fresh coat of paint weren’t going to be enough. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about Mythical Carpets, the single item that no internetainment studio should be without.

Although I had never designed a Mythical Carpet before, the boys assured me that if I handled the design part, they’d take care of “the Mythicalness” (something about a guy named “Unicorn Steve” down at the flea market, I dunno). So after a quick meeting and some back’n’forth with Unicorn Steve, the two Mythical Carpets pictured above were born, along with a brief & highly entertaining demo video.

Big thanks to both Rhett & Link for making this thing called work waaaay too much fun. Hope you enjoy…

She & Him – Poster

She & Him – Poster

Here’s a fun one I just finished up with Halftone Def Studios for the Savannah Music Festival, She & Him performance. The 3 color poster measures 14×24, & is hand screened on French Speckletone, Brown, 100# Cover (edition of 75). We were stoked to find out that the 37 posters sent to Savannah sold out by half way through the performance!! The first mailing of the remainder of the prints went out earlier this week, with the second wave making thier way tomorrow… there’s still a few available at Halftone Def for any folks who missed them at the show. Big Thanks to Lauren & Maria @ The Savannah Music Festival & She & Him for making the project possible.

Face the Cakes – Poster

Face the Cakes

Eventually we all reach a point in our lives when the meaning of birthdays start to change. Instead of teen years, drivers licenses, adulthood & the coveted 21 to look forward to, it’s just dentures, adult diapers & medicare, right?… as it turns out, not so much. Here’s how my good friends Levi & Sarah kept it fresh in their post 21 celebration.

Big thanks to Marisa for setting up the festivites & Sean Tucker for helping me lay down the ink for the Face the Cakes birthday extravaganza, invites. hope you enjoy…

Halftone Def – Skateboard Series

Halftone Def – Skateboard Series

Chad Landenberger’s annual I’M BOARD series is one of my favorite art shows in the Jacksonville area. I grew up skating, and for most of my life I’ve been interested in the art and culture that surrounds the sport. So when the opportunity came around, I was stoked to spend some time creating the decks pictured above for Halftone Def Studios, and I’M BOARD IV. Thanks to Chad and all the folks who made the event possible, it was a seriously great night with a heck-of-a-lot-a rad art.

If you didn’t make it to the show, you can check out a few of the pics taken by Sarah at pointshootenjoy

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Rhett and Link – Album Art

Back in July I received an email about doing some album art for the super talented North Carolina-based comedy duo, Rhett & Link. We’ll be putting the finishing touches on everything and sending off the files to print by the end of this week. But for now, here’s a peek at the post to come. Stay tuned…

Halftone Def – Type Treatment

Halftonedef – Type Treatment

A while back I started messing around with some business card designs for Halftone Def Studios… I had a loose idea of a looping type treament in my head for the front of the cards, but nothing sketched out & no formal plan attack. About half way through process I noticed the shapes of the letters looking very worm like & decided to expolre that direction. The resullt is what you see above. I’m pretty sure this won’t be making it on to business cards, but there is talk of T-shirts & possibly skateboards in the works. I’m sure I’ll eventually make it back around to my original goal, but for now I’ll settle for an interesting example of where designs will wonder when there are loose goals & no deadlines. … hope you enjoy!

Beards & Brushes – Art Show

Beards & Brushes – Art Show

Over the past few years jacksonville has been experiencing a host of wicked rad themed art shows put on by local folks like, Sean Collins (pictured above). I was super stoked to be included in the line-up for this one & really bummed that I was out of town during the opening. Judging by the picsBeards & Brushes was a hella’ good time. Big ups to Sarah Butsch of pointclickenjoy for snapping off a few shots of my contribution to the festivities… I owe you one!

Saturnalia – Postcard

Saturnalia – Postcard

A while back, at The Robin Shepherd Group, I had the chance to work on a project for our local fine arts museum, The Cummer. The Cummer decided to have a soft opening for their In Stabiano exhibit called Saturnalia. What better way to bring in an exploration of ancient seaside villas of the roman elite, than with a good ol’fashioned toga party! Above are a couple of pieces that fell out of a collaberation between, Tom Shifinella, Tron & myself… hope you enjoy!
