She & Him – Poster

She & Him – Poster

Here’s a fun one I just finished up with Halftone Def Studios for the Savannah Music Festival, She & Him performance. The 3 color poster measures 14×24, & is hand screened on French Speckletone, Brown, 100# Cover (edition of 75). We were stoked to find out that the 37 posters sent to Savannah sold out by half way through the performance!! The first mailing of the remainder of the prints went out earlier this week, with the second wave making thier way tomorrow… there’s still a few available at Halftone Def for any folks who missed them at the show. Big Thanks to Lauren & Maria @ The Savannah Music Festival & She & Him for making the project possible.

Face the Cakes – Poster

Face the Cakes

Eventually we all reach a point in our lives when the meaning of birthdays start to change. Instead of teen years, drivers licenses, adulthood & the coveted 21 to look forward to, it’s just dentures, adult diapers & medicare, right?… as it turns out, not so much. Here’s how my good friends Levi & Sarah kept it fresh in their post 21 celebration.

Big thanks to Marisa for setting up the festivites & Sean Tucker for helping me lay down the ink for the Face the Cakes birthday extravaganza, invites. hope you enjoy…

Halftone Def – Type Treatment

Halftonedef – Type Treatment

A while back I started messing around with some business card designs for Halftone Def Studios… I had a loose idea of a looping type treament in my head for the front of the cards, but nothing sketched out & no formal plan attack. About half way through process I noticed the shapes of the letters looking very worm like & decided to expolre that direction. The resullt is what you see above. I’m pretty sure this won’t be making it on to business cards, but there is talk of T-shirts & possibly skateboards in the works. I’m sure I’ll eventually make it back around to my original goal, but for now I’ll settle for an interesting example of where designs will wonder when there are loose goals & no deadlines. … hope you enjoy!

One Love – Poster

One Love – Poster

What a better way to celebrate your 24th birthday than with a graphic art show collective! In 2008 The Robin Shepherd Group had it’s 24th birthday and decided to throw a small event in Springfield’s PIE studio to celebrate. The entire creative team at the agency was tasked with designing a poster series that reflected on the number 24… not a small task considering that all of the new posters would be showcased with 24 of Shepherds’ past favorites. Above was my contribution to the show – 24 icons of advertising & design coming together for a single reason… hope you enjoy

Lucero – Poster

Lucero – Poster

Here’s a fun one that I’m working on with Halftone Def Studios for the band, Lucero. We just got final approavl to print this morning & should start the process in the next week or so. Big ups to Sean Tucker at Dog & Pony for spreading the love & hooking up Halftone Def up with their management folks. So far it’s been a great experience… can’t wait to see how the final prints turn out… stay tuned!

Fabulous Friends – Collateral

Fabulous Friends – Collateral

Here’s a couple of pieces I did a while back for a company called, Fabulous Friends. Fabulous Freinds specializes in hand made custom jewlery for cats and dogs. That’s right, bling bling for your favorite friend in the world… a perfect way to show your appreciation for all those years of the unconditional love… well, that, a fist full of treats & some Q.T. out in the yard, too!

Saturnalia – Postcard

Saturnalia – Postcard

A while back, at The Robin Shepherd Group, I had the chance to work on a project for our local fine arts museum, The Cummer. The Cummer decided to have a soft opening for their In Stabiano exhibit called Saturnalia. What better way to bring in an exploration of ancient seaside villas of the roman elite, than with a good ol’fashioned toga party! Above are a couple of pieces that fell out of a collaberation between, Tom Shifinella, Tron & myself… hope you enjoy!

Honey, Nuts, and Oaths – Wedding Invite

Honey, Nuts, and Oaths – Wedding Invite

If you couldn’t tell by now, vector illustrations are one of my favorite things to do… this is especially true when I get to create them for folks I care about. Honey, Nuts and Oaths was the wedding theme that my good friends Levi & Marisa came up with for their day of days. Jacquie Wojcik & I were lucky enough to help them out with the story line & illustrations for their invite package. As much of a visual person as I am, I have to admit, it was the story that really made this invite extra special. If you haven’t already, take a second & let your eyes walk through this magical Florida tale… hope you enjoy!

“Once upon a daydream, in the hot Florida woods, lived a heavy-hearted bear with a taste for bee’s goods. Up in a tree hopped a small lady squirrel with a nest full of nuts and a spirit full of curl. The squirrel looked for the salty; the bear sought the sweet, so it made perfect sense that one warm day they’d meet. Over an afternoon snack of nuts and sweet nectar, the bear swore he’d become the squirrel’s sole protector. He made a proposal that very same day, and heartfully she accepted, without any delay. One year later and fifteen days to the date, join the bear and the squirrel as they seal their fate.”

Fins & Feathers – Brochure

Fins & Feathers – Brochure

As designers we are always dreaming of projects with open minded clients who will not only let us design a piece to the 9’s, but will also go the extra mile with production to make sure the vision is realized. For me, projects like the Fins & Feathers brochure are few and far between, so when they do come around it’s like winning the lotto, well, minus the millions of dollars part. From a production standpoint, this brochure was def. father than I’d ever been before on a single piece. Grommets, french fold, sculpted emboss, die cuts on FiberMark, SuedeTex… & that was just the cover! The finished piece ultimately helped sell multiple memberships to Fins & Feathers before the proporty was built out… not to shabby for a few sheets of paper…hope you enjoy!

U.N.F. – Poster

University of North Florida Concert Poster

Happy Thursday, all! So here’s a fun one I did a while back at The Robin Shepherd Group for a annual concert series at the University of North Florida. The series has been going on for the better part of 25 years now, and has always incorporated a musical dog theme. So, in line with the long standing tradition I worked with Tom Schifanella to come up with the idea of scratching your musical itch. It’s fun to work on these types of projects that have a fixed concept to create within… the exercise reminds me a lot of themed art shows where all participating artists have the same object to work from. These projects def. make it more challenging to come up with ideas that haven’t been done yet, but they can also be very satisfying when you do… hope you enjoy.
